The Race for the Cure®

Dear family, friends, and other loved ones:

First off, we want to thank all of you who have reached out to Brian and me as I have been undergoing treatment for recurrent breast cancer.  Your prayers and support mean a great deal to us.

It’s the time of year when my thoughts turn to the Komen Foundation and all of the good works they do.  These include: free mammograms, educating the public about early detection, providing support for women battling this disease, not to mention the significant funds donated to cancer research.

The Komen Organization has been the focus of recent media attention because of their decision to stop supporting the breast cancer related work of Planned Parenthood and as they have reversed their decision, I hope this controversy will not affect your financial support.

We are donating the funds we raise this year at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in memory of Laura Hague, my dear friend who lost her battle with this disease in October of 2011.

My goal this year is to raise $20,000.  I can’t do it alone so please consider joining Team Fockers (Friends Of Carrie Keenly Engaged in Rallying Support), making a contribution or both.
